The leaves cover the forest floor
The landscape knows for no grass grows.
Nothing grows.
The bones of the earth sink down deeper.

All the green is turning to a sickly hue of brown.
No matter the season laughter quickly begins to wilt.
Everything forgotten.
Time comes to claim this precious existence.
Enjoy the moment's bated breath.

Why resist?
The ending is inevitable.
Carry on? Why? What's the point?
Scarred earth.
Heavy weighted souls.
Rebirth.
A hope in the unknown.
Leave be the ire of subtleties.
Somber lifeless offerings.
Every great adventure ends with death.
Or so they say
The heart is forever longing, but the compass never shows the way.
Deep breaths, empty hollow eyes.
Weakness, upon which these veins rely.
Fight or flight. Most often it's flight.
Courage, upon which can't defy.
As the day is sundered, by the crushing night.
In darkness it shall wander, lifeless simple lies.
As told by dying legends, in childrens' shining eyes.
The story has an ending, yet you just, gloat, gloat, gloat, gloat, gloat

Late 90's BM worship, but it's also a lil more than that. This album takes the best elements from the scene it's inspired by and mostly avoids the worst of it; the song-writing is well-written, it's performed with passion and fun, and the production is raw but isn't lo-fi. (i.e. it doesn't obfuscate and/or suckass). Tl;dr It's safe but high quality BM. Recommended.

Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end.
